Biographies of the Two Co-Chairpersons!
Tessa Farmer
Tessa plans to take a year off before applying
to graduate schools. She hopes to study Middle Eastern Anthropology, after
experiencing Egypt for eight months. Tessa has developed an eye for details
throughout her anthropological years at the University of Rochester. She can
look at the big picture of cultures, yet does not fail to notice the nuances
and particulars at the same time.
Kate Navarra
After graduation from the University of Rochester, Kate plans to attend graduate
school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Archaeology. In addition
to her profound interest in Archaeology, Kate is interested in doing curatorial
work with museums; developing outreach programs to bring archaeology and anthropology
into the public realm; and pursuing someday a career in publishing. Thus far
in her anthropological career, through being the co-editor of the department
newsletter and writing many papers, she has learned that the written word
only has so much effect on the public and only reaches certain audiences.
She hopes to develop her writing techniques, as well as visual and interactive
modes of communication, in order to be more able to bring anthropology and
archaeology to the public.
